Affinity of spokespersons of the Government with the 'offshore' companies
The spokesmen for the Government, in pursuit of to establish its position and actions against the filtration of documents from law firm Mossack & Fonseca, which has tarnished the image of the country, have interests in companies specialized in the creation of offshore companies.
One of them, Deputy Foreign Minister Luis Miguel Hincapié, acknowledged that his signature appears in documents that are part of international research.
Hincapié is a partner of law firm Morgan & Morgan, considered as the largest and most international oriented firm of Panama and Central America, which owns banks in the Bahamas and in our country.
On the other hand, the Presidential Adviser on financial issues, Gian Castillero, is linked to the law firm Arias Fábrega & Fábrega (Arifa), which has a network of offices in Panama, London, Luxembourg, Geneva, Hong Kong, British Virgin Islands and Belize.
One of its spokesmen, Dulcidio De La Guardia, Minister of Economy and Finance, is also linked to Morgan & Morgan.
Meanwhile, the Minister of the Presidency, Álvaro Alemán, is a member of the law firm Icaza, Gonzalez-Ruiz & Aleman.
This latter law firm specializes in tax law, commercial law and public procurement, as well as processes in the governmental administrative system on fiscal matters.
All these companies, with experience beyond the borders, share a common denominator: the creation of joint-stock companies.
